Comments Don't Show Embedded Videos To Others Non-Admin Users

Overview

Comments posted in your Jive Community with embedded videos don't show any Video Content for other non-admin users, while the author of the comment and the Admin users can see the Video content.

Information

This issue was identified as a bug and resolved in Jive Cloud release 3006.8 with the issue key JVCLD-99350 (release notes on Worx). While the Cloud upgrades are automatically deployed, if you haven't yet been upgraded or have chosen to stay on an earlier version and now would like to upgrade, please get in touch with your Account Manager/Executive to arrange for the upgrade.

Note that this fix would apply to all future comments posted with Videos and would not retroactively fix the comments made prior to the upgrade.

Workaround for comments posted before the upgrade

The comment author needs to edit and re-upload the Video in the comment to trigger a re-processing of the Video Content. Follow the steps below for this workaround (you can skip steps 1 and 2 if you have a copy of the video available already that you can re-upload):

  1. Go to and open the video directly in a new browser tab. The URL will  be similar to https://<jive_community_url>/videos/1234.
  2. Download the video.
  3. Go back to the affected comment.
  4. Click on Edit > Change Video and then upload the downloaded video.
  5. You will be prompted to enter a title while editing the video. This title will not appear in the comment.

Testing

The new comments and the older comments with the workaround applied should show the Video content as expected.
