A Device on Your Network is Unable to Reach Your Community/Instance

Overview

You've identified that a specific device on your network is unable to reach your Jive community/instance or your community's API. When you try to connect to the Jive API from that device, the following message may appear:

  • INFO Could not exchange reg token; attempting to get an activation token.

When you run a DNS lookup on your community's domain name from that device, you find that the name cannot be resolved, or another message appears that indicates that the device is unable to access the Jive community.

This article provides more information on how to resolve this type of issue.

Information

To resolve this type of issue, please ask your organization's IT team to check the DNS configuration on the device that is unable to access Jive, and to ensure that there are no networking devices that may be preventing it from accessing your community.

If your IT team believes the issue is not related to a configuration or networking issue on the client device being used, please contact us.
