Private Events Do Not Generate Emails for Invites (Hosted)

Overview

This article provides information on how to resolve issues pertaining to private events not generating notifications (neither inbox nor email) for invites.

 

Environment

  • Jive Cloud 2016.3.9.0
  • Jive HOP 9.0.6

Reproduction Steps

  1. Create a private event.
  2. Invite a second account to it with a private message.
  3. Check that second account's email address.

Expected Result

  • Email is received with the message.
  • New notification item in the inbox.
  • Awaiting Response area is updated with the new invite.

Actual Result

  • No email is ever received.
  • No notification is received by inbox.
  • Awaiting Response area has no invite.

Resolution

Setting the system property event.private.allow.invite.emails to true in the admin console will give the expected result.

This issue was fixed in HOP 9.2.
